Money makes the Word go round.

Curious why I feel alienated from evangelicalism? Just click here for a summary.

White men! White men in suits! White men in suits everywhere! (Brian McLaren, I mean you no ill will.)

I feel very sad.

There were some women there... Okay, so they were mostly shown with their husbands, but isn't that simply proper? ;)

It did seem a very strange collection. I didn't read the content carefully (we skimmed through, pausing long enough to be able to affix the labels "evil" or "not evil" to each one) but I'd be interested to hear more on how they compiled the list.

You're right, of course, about the women, James. But they number far fewer than the men, which says more about the social and theological mores of evangelicalism than it does about TIME, I think.

Did you notice how all the women have the same haircut? It's hilarious.

I'm curious who you labeled "not evil." ;)

For some reason I was way disillusioned to find out that Cameron Strang's dad is a bigtime Christian mag publisher. I'm not sure why. I guess I wanted to believe Strang the Younger was really doing a "nu thang," as our dear friends in dc Talk would put it.

PS: no Michael W. Smith on their list?????

Thanks for the link to the list... so when will Time publish a list of the 25 most powerful progressives... I did notice the haircuts, and they were all rather manly if you think about it. It is as if looking like a white male or being a white male is the path to finding the keys to the kingdom.

I have always wondered about the personal fortunes of some of these "leaders." The Joyce Meyer piece was interesting to hear, and I keep waiting for the Presbyterian Church to send me my $10 million plane, but of course the interesting thing is they singled out one of the few white women to bust her chops on taking too much money...

grace and peace
